Season 2007 will mark the 5th year of Sandringham Soccer Club's Budding Referee program. The program is for male and female soccer players aged 11-14 and provides them with training to referee U7 to U10 rooball/sub-junior Sandringham home games on a Saturday morning. Whilst no compensation is provided, this is a terrific way for junior players to acquire refereeing skills and confidence in real game situations. Many of our former “Budding Refs” have gone on to become official FFV referees.

In 2005 and 2006, our club has helped 16 of our players through the examination process to become official FFV referees. Twelve of these players are now officiating at weekend soccer games for U11 and U12 age groups...and earning $35 per game.
A number of our “Budding Refs” plan to take the FFV refereeing exams in February and March. The initial process takes 3 months and costs approximately $200 for exams/uniforms/and annual FFV referee registration fees.
