U13 Super League Final
14/10/2009
The 2 top teams representing North/West and South/East played the U13 Super League Final at Darebin in front of a large crowd. Melbourne Knights kicked off and kept the ball, knocking it around but were pressured off the ball by Sandringham’s midfield. After a bright opening Sandringham’s first goal came with some fine interchange in midfield. The ball was then played out to the right wing to Cameron Pain who then put in a great cross; the ball was only partially cleared only to find Damien Miskulin to head home the first goal.
Sandy did not keep the lead for long MK took possession of the ball on the left wing where they played it across the park. Sandy could not intercept the pass and it fell to a MK player who then scored the equaliser.
The game was more open with some nice play from both sides. Then on the 22nd minute mark Angelo Amato turned his marker and let fly 25 metres out, the ball flew into the top corner leaving the GK stranded and Sandringham 2-1 up.
Sandy’s third came from a penalty .Damien Miskulin picked the ball up in his own half and ran 25 metres with the ball and he was then brought down in the penalty box. The ref immediately pointed to the spot and he duly slotted the ball past the GK 3-1.
MK Started to push people forward and their opportunity came as the ball was pushed down the Sandy left to a MK player who picked the ball up and calmly slotted past the GK. The next 10 minutes were tense but Sandy held on to a well deserved 3-2 victory and the accolade of being acknowledged as U13 State Champions 2009.
U/18,s Super League
29/03/2009
The season has started on a good note for the U/18,s. Playing away against Green Gully the boys pulled off a draw,1st half goals, Mennen at the 8th min,and Charlie at the 43rd min, boys played extremely well considering the team has only been together for only a few weeks. Our back line stood up to the pressure of Green Gully,Eddie had a good game with some good saves,Luke, Abbraham, Adam, Matt, and Chris had a solid game, Steven, Charlie, Alp, and Mennan and Johnny up front showed some good skills and where unlucky not to score more goals. Boys on the interchange did there job when they came on.
In rapping up I must say congatulations to the coach Guido who has put together this great bunch of boys. Well done once again.
